In Loving Memory of Dr. Sheri McCallister

Dr. Sheri McCallister, DMin, MA, LPC, was a founding partner of Wellspring Counseling Center and dedicated more than 40 years of her life to the counseling field. Through her compassion, wisdom, faith, and unwavering care for others, Dr. Sheri impacted countless lives, both within the therapy room and beyond.
Sheri graduated in 1983 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Trinity College in Deerfield, Illinois. She later earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in 1988, followed by a Doctorate in Christian Counseling with an emphasis on developmental attachment and attachment to God in 2014.
In Spring 2008, Sheri and Brian Westrate founded Wellspring Counseling Center with a shared vision of bringing a fresh, attachment-focused approach to counseling. The foundation they built was centered on reliability, consistency, openness, empathy, and continued personal growth.
Coming alongside hurting people to help position them to receive healing and transformation from God was Dr. Sheri’s passion. She worked from a stance of “wounded healer,” believing that true healing involves both emotional and spiritual growth. Her counseling reflected not only her professional expertise, but also the personal healing and transformation she experienced throughout her own life.
Dr. Sheri worked with couples, individuals, and groups, with a special focus on trauma recovery and related struggles including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, anger, and relational difficulties. She had a unique ability to help people feel deeply seen, known, safe, and cared for.
Outside of her work, Sheri deeply loved her family. She and her husband, Del, shared more than four decades of marriage together. She treasured time spent with her children and grandchildren, who brought her tremendous joy. She also enjoyed reading, gardening, decorating, and spending quiet time in prayer and devotion.
Dr. Sheri’s legacy continues through the countless lives she helped shape, the care she provided to her clients, and the lasting foundation she helped create at Wellspring Counseling Center. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered.
